Produced and directed by UK-Chinese filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung, Son of the Soil follows Zion Ladejo, a former Nigerian Special Ops paratrooper, who has built a quiet life in exile, but his sister’s sudden death drags him back home to a Nigeria battling drugs, corruption and organised crime.

Fresh off its festival triumphs, including three Black Star Film Festival awards and the AFRIFF Audience Choice Award, plus seven nominations at the upcoming Best of Nollywood Awards, Son of the Soil is an intense, emotional and action-charged story set in modern-day Nigeria, delivering an unforgettable big-screen experience that sets the benchmark for African action cinema.

The film was produced by Sovereign Films and Action Xtreme, in association with Nigeria’s Boxonia Blueprint.

Son of the Soil stars British-Nigerian actor Razaaq Adoti (Black Hawk Down), who also wrote the script. The cast blends rising talent and industry veterans, including Patience Ozokwo (Everybody Loves Jenifa), Iretiola Doyle (Tinsel), Sunshine Rosman (Netflix’s To Kill a Monkey), Taye Arimoro (Deadline for Love), Emeka Golden (Say Who Die), Philip Asaya (Kill Boro) and Sharon Rotimi (The Yard). Shot on location in Nigeria, Son of the Soil brings a contemporary African action story to the British big screen.
