Action Xtreme, a leading UK production company specialising in action filmmaking, is thrilled to announce the launch of its Women in Action Mentorship Programme aimed at supporting UK based women creatives across all filmmaking disciplines within the action genre. This 12-month initiative comes as part of Action Xtreme's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the film industry, and marks the first of several upcoming initiatives planned by the company to foster new, exciting and diverse voices in the UK.

The action film industry has witnessed a notable increase in the presence of women as leading action stars in recent years. However, the representation of women in behind-the-scenes roles such as directors, producers, writers  and heads of department still lags behind. With Action Xtreme’s Mentorship Programme, we aim to address this imbalance, and strongly believe that by empowering and nurturing the talent of women, we can contribute to a more inclusive and diverse action film landscape.

 

Despite the growing popularity of action films, women continue to be underrepresented in key creative roles within the genre. Recognising this disparity, Action Xtreme is dedicated to providing aspiring creatives with the resources, guidance and networking opportunities needed to develop and grow within the action genre space. 

 

Our Women in Action Mentorship Programme will work with talented creative women who are ready to take the next step in their careers, supporting them to transition from servicing and working on others' projects within the action space to developing their own content. Individuals selected for the programme may have already honed their skills and gained valuable experience working in various capacities within the industry, and are now ready to seek the opportunity to bring their own visions to life.

 

The programme caters to those with a passion for directing, writing, producing and navigating the complexities of distribution, and delves into the intricacies of content creation and dissemination strategies, while prioritising the elevation of talent within the industry. By encompassing project development, industry networking and career planning, participants will have the chance to refine their skills and position their talent front and centre within the industry.

 

Action Xtreme’s Women in Action Mentorship Programme will support 6-8 individuals over the course of 12 months, with personalised mentorship from industry professionals, including directors, producers, writers, cinematographers and editors, all with extensive experience in action filmmaking. 

 

Mentees will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, gain valuable insights into the industry, attend workshops and masterclasses, and develop the skills necessary to excel in their chosen field. They will also have the opportunity to pitch to industry professionals and develop their concepts into fully-fledged productions. Action Xtreme’s comprehensive approach will involve refining proof of concepts, scripts and other essential elements, ensuring that each project receives the attention and support needed to thrive in the competitive landscape of the film industry.

This mentorship programme will provide tailored guidance and resources, and we will facilitate networking opportunities and mentorship from successful women professionals in the field, offering invaluable insights and support.
